Privacy Policy
What data this website collects, why it is used, and what rights you have as a visitor or contact.
Business identification
Under Belgian law, every business website must make its identification details permanently, easily, directly, and free of charge available to visitors.
Who is responsible for your data?
Jakob Lierman, sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak), is the data controller for personal data collected through jakoblierman.be.
The legally required business identification details (address, enterprise number, VAT number, and contact details) are available at the top of this page.
What personal data do we collect?
When you use the contact form, we collect the information you submit: first name, last name, email address, optional phone number, optional project details, and your message.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider may process technical data such as IP address, browser type, request time, and pages visited in server logs.
If you book a call through Cal.com or contact us by email, that channel processes the data you provide under its own terms.
Why we use your data and our legal basis
We use contact form data to read your message, reply to your inquiry, and assess whether there is a fit for a professional engagement.
The legal basis is legitimate interest (handling business inquiries) and, where applicable, steps taken at your request before entering into a contract. If we need consent for a specific purpose, we will ask for it separately.
Server logs are used to keep the website secure, diagnose technical issues, and maintain reliable hosting.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We use service providers (processors) only where needed to run the website and handle contact requests:
Vercel hosts the website and may process technical request data. Resend delivers contact form submissions by email to our inbox. Cal.com processes scheduling data when you book a call through the linked booking page.
These providers process data on our instructions and under their own privacy terms. We choose providers with appropriate safeguards for EU data protection requirements.
How long we keep your data
Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up project discussion, and otherwise no longer than reasonably necessary for business administration and legal obligations.
Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider's default retention periods, typically for a limited number of days unless longer retention is required for security investigation.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability where applicable.
You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise your rights, email hello@jakoblierman.be. We will respond within the time limits set by law.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority if you believe your data is processed unlawfully.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not currently use analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies.
Essential technical cookies or local storage may be used by the hosting platform or browser for basic site operation. If we add non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before placing them.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS, access controls on service accounts, and limiting data collection to what is needed for the contact flow.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please do not send highly sensitive information through the contact form unless necessary.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when the website, services, or legal requirements change. The date at the bottom of this page shows when this version was last updated.
Privacy questions
Questions about this privacy policy or how your data is handled can be sent to hello@jakoblierman.be.
